Play Level: Excellent

This violin is dedicated to Yitzhak Rabin and carries his signature on its label. Rabin served as Prime Minister of Israel for two terms, 1974-77 and 1992-1995, when he was assassinated by an Israeli antagonist in a public demonstration in Tel Aviv.

Rabin was the chief-of-staff during the Six Day War and not less important—signed the peace agreement in Oslo, Norway, and the peace agreement with Jordan. As the most important Israeli leader who made peace, Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein dedicated to him a violin.

On January 10, 1995, Rabin signed his name on the wood of the belly before the violin was glued and sealed. At the meeting in his office, violinist Shlomo Mintz played for Rabin and his staff. Rabin said that he was not musical, but remembered well two historical concerts. One concert was held in Beersheba, 1948; the second after the Six Days War.
