14 The Manfred Katz violin

Homepage     Gallery

Playing Level: Good

Manfred Katz lived before World War II in Germany as a Romanian citizen. His father played the violin and gave him his instrument as a gift for life. Manfred married Betty, now 93 years old, and both were forced to leave all their belongings in Germany and return to Romania, where they were interned in the ghetto. The only object they kept from their life prior to the war and all through the war was Manfred's violin, the most precious object they clung to and kept for themselves.
