In the third concert of their musical residency with us, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with the Philharmonic Society's Orange County Youth Symphony under the baton of the talented maestro, Vasily Petrenko. This program features OCYS Concerto Competition winners Joey Zhou (cello) performing Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1, and Leenah Yoon (harp) performing Handel's Harp Concerto in B-flat major.
Russian maestro Vasily Petrenko became the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Music Director in the 2021-22 season, after leaving his role as Chief Conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. He will conclude his term as Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) in July 2021, closing a fifteen-year period during which he has drawn critical acclaim, global recognition and significantly increased audiences across the region.
