Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason, who received critical acclaim for her debut album featuring the music of Clara Wieck Schumann, joins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.

Russian maestro Vasily Petrenko became the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Music Director in the 2021-22 season, after leaving his role as Chief Conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. He will conclude his term as Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) in July 2021, closing a fifteen-year period during which he has drawn critical acclaim, global recognition and significantly increased audiences across the region.

Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason is in great demand internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. She was an ECHO Rising Star in 21/22, performing in many of Europe’s finest halls and is also the recipient of the coveted Leonard Bernstein Award and an Opus Klassik award for best young artist. Her debut album on Decca Classics, “Romance – the Piano Music of Clara Schumann,” drew popular and critical acclaim, entering the UK classical charts at No. 1. In the 2022-23 season, Isata steps into her role as Artist-in-Residence with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
