Music Monday: Yo-Yo Ma & Kathryn Stott Debut ‘The Swan (Saint-Saëns)’

Date: 8/10/2015

Reknowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Kathryn Stott will release a new album, Songs From the Arc of Life, on September 18. The record celebrates the duo's 30 years of friendship and collaboration in concerts and recordings, and includes pieces Ma and Stott have frequently performed but never recorded, along with a handful of discoveries.

"I like to think of Songs from the Arc of Life as an invitation to our audience to remember and imagine what the soundtracks of their lives might be," Ma says. "Kathy and I have talked for years about recording an album of music we absolutely love, pieces that express the context of a life, of our lives."

One of the pieces on this new recording is Camille Saint-Saëns' "The Swan,” from Carnival of the Animals. Enjoy!
